2022: Elmer Gantry by Sinclair Lewis (banned in Boston and elsewhere for being “disrespectful to religion”) 


2023: Ulysses by James Joyce (banned throughout the English-speaking world - the subject of a seminal court case)


2024: The Noodle Maker by Ma Jian (banned in China for criticizing the government and the cult of Mao)
