I too have had to leave the church of my youth. I've found refuge in my local Episcopal Church. Not knowing your area of the world I can't make recommendations, but if you are looking for a port in the storm they have been good to me.Genevahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06376793739063079953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4051826042602269061.post-41239810189967776942017-03-20T10:50:09.451-07:002017-03-20T10:50:09.451-07:00The plays sound like fun! I'm not sure entirely what will end up on our list for this year, but we have plans to see Pippin at CSUB this week, Romeo and Juliet in April, Richard II in San Diego in June, and The Merchant of Venice some time this summer.

Yeah, there is a real sense of loss on leaving a church. What is weird about the political thing is that most of us who ended up leaving (and it wasn't just me) were Republican-leaning voters up until Trump. Even dissent from the not-quite-hard Right is unwelcome right now, particularly in Bakersfield.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. You are one of the people who makes blogging worthwhile. From what I've read of your political views, they aren't those of the majority in Bakersfield, but voices of dissent like yours are important, and it encourages others to speak up as well. If you are ever in San Francisco, go visit Glide Memorial Church. It's philosophy is radical inclusion, and it really is radical. Plus the music is great. It's an honor to follow along on your journey of discovery and enlightenment. Thanks for sharing as much as you do.

By the way, I saw a lot of great theatre in NYC last week. I plan on reading a couple of the plays - Jitney by August Wilson and Sweat by Lynn Nottage. I think you would like both of them.Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16098063988095610502noreply@blogger.com
